Job Title: Digital Solutions Designer

Join Barclays Bank as a Digital Solutions Designer and play a key role in shaping the future of our digital landscape. As a Solution Architect, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing solutions to complex business problems, collaborating with stakeholders to understand their needs and requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop solutions that meet business requirements, aligning with modern software engineering practices and automated delivery tooling.
  • Apply an appropriate workload placement strategy to maximize the benefit of cloud capabilities, such as elasticity, serverless, and containerization.
  • Design solutions that incorporate security principles, meeting the Bank's resiliency expectations.
  • Balance risks and controls to deliver agreed business and technology value.
  • Adopt standardized solutions where applicable, and contribute to their ongoing evolution.
  • Support operational teams with fault finding and performance issues, leveraging available tooling.
  • Assess solution design impact in terms of risk, capacity, and cost, including estimation of project change and ongoing run costs.
  • Develop architecture inputs required to comply with the Bank's governance processes, including design artefacts for architecture, privacy, security, and records management governance processes.
Requirements:
  • Experience with Java, stakeholder management skills, and AWS.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to advise and influence decision-making within own area of expertise.
  • Ability to take ownership of managing risk and strengthening controls in relation to the work owned or contributed to.
  • Understanding of how own sub-function integrates with function, alongside knowledge of the organization's products, services, and processes within the function.
  • Ability to make evaluative judgements based on analysis of factual information, paying attention to detail.
  • Ability to resolve problems by identifying and selecting solutions through application of acquired technical experience and guided by precedents.
  • Ability to guide and persuade team members and communicate complex/sensitive information.
  • Ability to act as a contact point for stakeholders outside of the immediate function, while building a network of contacts outside the team and external to the organization.
