Position Summary

The successful candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of Critical Facilities/Data Centre infrastructure, encompassing Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and related assets.

As the principal member of the engineering shift team, you will oversee the thorough inspection, operation, and maintenance of all associated assets within the critical facility. Your primary focus will be on risk management in critical facilities, enhancing service delivery quality through effective leadership of the shift team.

You will ensure that all personnel under your supervision conduct themselves in a safe, professional, and conscientious manner.

Attendance at site meetings with clients, as well as on behalf of clients when requested, will be part of your responsibilities.

Fostering a Safety-First culture throughout the team is essential, leveraging your experience and knowledge of safe work systems and compliance.

A key aspect of this role includes being an authorised person for 11kV Electrical Systems.

You will be empowered to issue Permits to Work (PTW), ensuring adherence to method statements, risk assessments, and Integral Health and Safety procedures.

You will ensure that all personnel under your supervision maintain a safe, professional, and conscientious approach.
Key Responsibilities

Primary Duties:

  • Supervise, coordinate, and support the site-based engineering team, including internal and MEP responsibilities.
  • Operate all systems within the facility competently and efficiently, making recommendations for improvements and providing detailed technical reports as needed.
  • Oversee all activities related to the technical and efficient operation of installed building systems, ensuring compliance with statutory regulations.
  • Prepare, plan, and support specialist vendor planned, reactive, and corrective works, ensuring relevant Change Management approvals are submitted for all critical tasks.
  • Ensure that specialist vendor worksheets are signed off as necessary, that quality of work is inspected, and that recommendations are communicated by the Engineering Team (Shift Engineers).
  • Provide backup as engineering relief cover in emergencies, which may necessitate temporary shift work.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual service level agreements (SLAs) by the team and specialist vendors.
  • Act as a key operator of the Corrigo CMMS system, ensuring that MEP PPM, Reactive, and Corrective Work Orders/Tasks are accurately completed within SLA, monitoring progress throughout the shift.
  • Participate in weekly operations meetings and client meetings as requested, in collaboration with Integral account management.
  • Assist the Assistant Chief Engineer/Chief Engineer in preparing the Monthly and Quarterly Engineering Report, ensuring significant events or activities are documented.
  • Contribute to identifying engineering risks and reporting on the availability of critical systems daily.
  • Complete shift handover reports, ensuring significant events or activities are effectively communicated to incoming shifts and Integral management.
  • Manage critical spares, including maintaining a site stock register and auditing stock levels, procuring spares from suppliers as needed.
  • Compile reports on critical incidents and near misses, conducting after-action reviews.
  • Ensure all MEP planned maintenance is conducted in accordance with OEM/SFG20 requirements.
  • Immediately escalate any operational issues with critical equipment, following local site processes.
  • Review service reports from all specialist vendors, following up on any recommendations or actions needed.
  • Produce Site-Specific Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Method of Procedures (MOP), and Emergency Operating Procedures (EOP).
  • Assist the Assistant Chief Engineer in delivering critical infrastructure scenario training, taking a lead role in developing engineers within the team.
  • Actively contribute to the continuous improvement of safe work systems, ensuring compliance with relevant HSE policies and procedures.
  • Escalate performance issues with specialist vendors, accurately detailing areas of concern.
  • Effectively communicate technical and legislative updates to all team members.
  • Maintain minimum levels of staffing on-site, supporting the arrangement of suitable cover or replacements.
  • Participate actively in the site ONWH escalation and support the 24/7 operation.
  • Take ownership of areas under Integral control, ensuring they are maintained to the required standards.
  • Liaise with the supply chain when ordering M&E components for remedial works.
  • Proactively attend training courses as identified by Integral management, promoting a positive culture regarding personal development and training.
  • Conduct Site-Specific Technical Assessments and Skills Gap Analysis at intervals defined by Integral.
  • Coach new employees as part of the onboarding process.
  • Participate in the engineering Quality Assurance process to validate the standards of completed works, auditing 10% of completed Work Orders to ensure quality levels are maintained.
  • Fulfill all responsibilities in line with the site-based MEP responsibilities matrix.
  • Respond to AladinWorks alarms and escalations for all critical alarms during shift duty.
Candidate Profile:

  • Minimum of 5 years relevant experience in Critical Environments such as Banking HQ and Data Centres.
  • HV Authorised Person with experience in HV Systems.
  • Electrical/Mechanical Engineering HNC or HND, having successfully completed an apprenticeship in either field.
  • C&G Pts. 1 & 2, or equivalent qualifications.
  • 17th Edition certification.

IEE:
Wiring and Installation (Ability to attain 18th Edition through additional training)

  • C&G 2391 test and inspection; BS 7671:2001 for inspection, testing, and certification.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage with all levels of staff.
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate, and direct a small team of engineers.
  • Proactive approach to achieving the highest operational standards.
  • Competent IT and report writing skills.
  • Ability to perform under pressure while maintaining clarity and focus to deliver required services.
  • Individuals demonstrating commitment and relevant experience may be considered, even if they do not meet all technical qualifications, subject to Operations Directors approval.
  • Willingness to attend on and off-site training for MEP assets, which may require overnight stays due to the nature of specialized training.
