About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Technologist to join our team at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our Nuclear Medicine department, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality imaging services to our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Imaging and Treatment

You will be responsible for performing patient investigations and treatments, including administering radioactive materials for diagnostic and therapy purposes. You will also be involved in carrying out imaging procedures in accordance with laid-down protocols.

Administration and Supervision

You will be required to administer radioactive materials to patients, ensuring accurate calculations and documentation. You will also supervise junior staff and assist in the training of new employees, students, and staff from other departments.

Department Administration

You will participate in the departmental rota, acting as a point of contact for users of the Nuclear Medicine and PET/CT service. You will also be responsible for monitoring and managing staff time and performance, ensuring adequate staffing during working hours.

Teaching and Supervision

You will supervise junior members of the department and assist in the training of new staff, students, and staff from other departments. You will also undertake formalized assessments of staff training and development.

Governance and Audit

You will be responsible for undertaking formal presentations of clinical and technical cases to staff within the multidisciplinary team. You will also lead the education and training of other healthcare professionals and students in relation to NM investigations.

Person Specification

We are looking for a candidate with the following qualifications and experience:

  • Scientific Degree (BSc) or equivalent in a relevant subject
  • Postgraduate diploma or equivalent in a relevant subject
  • Appropriate state registration (HCPC, RCT, or in the process of obtaining)
  • Experience of clinical Nuclear Medicine, including experience of specialist areas such as complex PET/CT and therapy

We also require a candidate with excellent communication skills, a sympathetic approach to patients, and the ability to work both within a team and independently.
