We are offering an excellent opportunity for a suitably qualified and highly motivated graduate to join our laboratory as a Senior Technologist for a fixed term of 3 years. The Transplantation and Renal Research Laboratory at Manchester Royal Infirmary supports all aspects of research with a transplant or renal focus. The post-holder will work alongside staff providing a routine service and will take a lead in the preparation and testing of non-routine samples.

To provide highest quality, complex technical and analytical laboratory-based support for research services.

To carry out technical, analytical and administrative tasks within the Laboratory, delivering to national and locally accepted standards (UKAS, EFI) with appropriate supervisory support.

To collaborate with other Laboratory team members to support an effective and reliable service.

To have responsibility for technical training of staff in specified areas of expertise.

To ensure that all Laboratory equipment is appropriate for use and purpose and is effectively maintained.

**Laboratory testing**:
receipt, recording and processing of samples received by the laboratory

isolation of white blood cells, serum and nucleic acids from blood and tissue samples

After training, participation in Laboratory work and general housekeeping duties

reporting test results to the Senior Clinical Scientist in a timely manner

to supervise and train other staff as required

maintain a high level of accuracy and reproducibility in defined, routine, preparative and associated procedures.
