SEN Teaching Assistant Role

We are working with a two-form entry primary school in the heart of Lewisham borough, seeking a passionate and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team. Their vision for children is that they leave the school knowing they are both loveable and capable.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Engage and progress the learning of SEN pupils, providing individualized support to enhance their academic and personal growth.
  2. Collaborate with the school team to create a positive and inclusive learning environment, promoting social and emotional well-being.
  3. Assess and monitor children's progress, providing constructive feedback to teachers and parents to inform instruction and support.
  4. Develop and implement creative strategies to extend pupil learning, thinking 'outside the box' to meet diverse needs.
  5. Provide one-on-one support to children with SEN, adapting instruction to meet their unique requirements.
  6. Offer feedback to pupils on their progress and achievement, celebrating successes and identifying areas for improvement.

Requirements:

  1. Qualifications: Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent, with a strong understanding of supporting SEN pupils.
  2. Experience: Previous experience working with SEN pupils, with a focus on developing effective support strategies.
  3. Knowledge: Understanding of SEN principles and practices, with a commitment to inclusive education.
  4. Desirable: Experience working with SEN children, with a proven track record of making a positive impact.
