About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Palliative Care Specialist to join our team at Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board. As a key member of our Specialist Palliative Care Team, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality, accessible palliative care services to patients and their families living with life-limiting diseases.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of palliative care services, ensuring they meet the needs of patients and their families.
  • Provide specialist support, care, and advice to patients and their families, working closely with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with healthcare professionals, patients, and their families, promoting excellent communication and collaboration.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest research, best practices, and guidelines in palliative care, applying this knowledge to improve patient outcomes.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, contributing to the continuous development and refinement of palliative care services.

Requirements

  • 1st Level Registered General Nurse qualification.
  • Post-registration qualification in a relevant area or equivalent experience.
  • Relevant First Degree or working towards, or equivalent experience.
  • Evidence of continued professional development.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

Non-Medical Independent Prescriber qualification.Teaching qualification or relevant experience.Experience in palliative care settings.Teaching skills and experience.

  • Advanced communication skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
  • Effective time management and organisational skills.
  • Ability to lead and influence change through application of advanced clinical knowledge and skills.

Personal Qualities

  • Ability to work flexibly to meet the demands of the service.
  • Ability to motivate and lead others.
  • Ability to manage opposition and overcome obstacles in a positive and non-threatening manner.

Other Requirements

  • Ability to make own transport arrangements for home visits/to travel between sites.

Language Requirements

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
