Position Overview:
We are collaborating with a prominent educational institution seeking a Higher Construction Mentor to enhance their Construction Department. This role is pivotal in guiding students without the responsibility of traditional classroom teaching. The mentor will engage with groups of learners, providing structured and precise instructions.
Compensation: Up to £46,000
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate the enrollment of apprentices in appropriate apprenticeship standards aligned with their career aspirations.
- Engage with both employers and apprentices to clarify course content, objectives, assessment processes, and final evaluation criteria.
- Ensure that employer sponsors offer a comprehensive range of work experiences that allow apprentices to develop the necessary skills, knowledge, and behaviors required for their qualifications and assessments.
- Provide clear guidance to apprentices on evidence submission requirements, marking, and feedback on their submissions.
- Collaborate with higher education lecturers to monitor apprentices' progress in coursework and prepare reports for formal reviews.
Candidate Requirements:
Industry Expertise:
The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of senior construction roles and have a background in construction management, civil engineering, or planning.
Educational Delivery and Assessment Experience:
Preferred qualifications include competency assessment certifications such as TAQA, A1, or D32. However, candidates with substantial experience in competency assessment may also be considered.
Sector Focus: Construction / Civil Engineering
Subject Levels: 4 to 6 (degree)
Apprenticeship Standards:
- Level 4: Building Services Engineering Senior Technician, Civil Engineering Senior Technician, Construction Design and Build Technician, Construction Quantity Surveying Technician, Construction Site Supervisor.
- Level 6: Civil Engineer (degree), Construction Site Management (degree), Design and Construction Management (degree).
This role is essential for shaping the future of apprentices in the construction field, ensuring they receive the guidance and support necessary for their professional development.
