Catering Manager Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Catering Manager to join our team at Holroyd Howe, a leading contract caterer providing fresh and innovative food services to independent schools and colleges.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of managing high-volume, quality-focused environments and will be able to demonstrate excellent presentation, organisational, and communication skills.

As a Catering Manager, you will be responsible for collaborating with the back of house team to develop well-balanced and nutritious menus that cater to diverse dietary requirements and preferences.

You will also be responsible for preparing and managing the catering budget, ensuring cost-effective operations while maintaining quality standards.

Additionally, you will establish strong relationships with school Bursars, Head Teachers, and faculty, and recruit, train, supervise, and motivate catering staff.

The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for food and service, excellent coaching, delegation, and influencing skills, and the ability to multitask, prioritise responsibilities, and adapt to changing circumstances in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement menus that cater to diverse dietary requirements and preferences
  • Manage the catering budget and ensure cost-effective operations
  • Establish strong relationships with school Bursars, Head Teachers, and faculty
  • Recruit, train, supervise, and motivate catering staff
  • Ensure compliance with food safety regulations, hygiene standards, and quality control protocols
  • Identify opportunities for growth, innovation, and improvement in menu offerings, service delivery, and operational efficiency


Requirements

  • Proven experience as a General Manager or Deputy General Manager in a high-volume, quality-focused environment
  • Excellent presentation, organisational, and communication skills
  • Strong passion for food and service
  • Excellent coaching, delegation, and influencing skills
  • Ability to multitask, prioritise responsibilities, and adapt to changing circumstances in a fast-paced environment
