Psychology & Sports Graduates - Begin Your Professional Journey

Are you eager to contribute to the educational development of young individuals who are not currently enrolled in traditional schooling?

Do you possess the adaptability required to thrive in a fulfilling environment as part of a nurturing team?

Have you considered a role within a Specialist Education framework, such as a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) or a Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) School?

Many of these roles transition into permanent positions, providing an excellent opportunity to launch your career and build a portfolio of experience that will assist you in achieving your desired career in Psychology.

I have a strong history of helping graduates acquire the essential work experience necessary to progress towards their professional aspirations.

***Candidates must be residing locally and prepared to commence work following the completion of mandatory checks.***

We are looking for Teaching Assistants, Tutors, and Support Workers for Pupil Referral Units, SEMH Schools, and alternative educational environments across various regions for both long-term and short-term positions, many of which lead to permanent employment. This serves as an excellent foundation for those pursuing a career in Psychology or education, particularly if you plan to undertake teacher training or work with youth in broader contexts. Numerous individuals I have mentored have successfully transitioned into their dream roles, whether in teaching Physical Education or within the fields of Clinical, Educational, or Forensic Psychology.

We particularly encourage applications from individuals with interests or experience in the following areas:

  • A genuine commitment to enhancing the outcomes for young people.
  • Experience in youth community work, whether voluntary or paid.
  • Educational background in Psychology or related degrees or Master’s programs.
  • Outgoing, confident personality with the ability to work independently.
  • Some experience with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) - including SEMH, PMLD, Autism, or other additional learning needs - is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Experience in residential support or as a care worker.
  • Possession of Team Teach or physical intervention training, or willingness to pursue such training to enhance career prospects.
  • Experience in mentoring or one-on-one tutoring in subjects such as English, Math, or Science.
  • Experience in Teaching/Learning Support Assistance, particularly in Numeracy and Literacy - although this is not essential.

Protocol Education has been successfully placing educational professionals in diverse settings for many years. We are a REC accredited and audited organization, emphasizing our commitment to safeguarding and compliance within the education sector. Our extensive office network spans from the North East to the South West and covers most areas in between.

Protocol Education expects the following from its Support Workers:

  • A current DBS certificate with a live subscription to the update service or a willingness to obtain one.
  • Two professional references from the past five years and a CV covering the last ten years.
  • A commitment to the safeguarding of young individuals.

All applicants must possess the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. For further details, please refer to the FAQs on the Protocol Education website.

All stated pay rates will include 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This position is temporary, with the possibility of transitioning to a permanent role in the future.

Protocol Education is dedicated to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. We conduct safeguarding checks on all workers in accordance with the DfE statutory guidance 'Keeping Children Safe in Education', which may also include an online search as part of our due diligence on shortlisted candidates.

We provide FREE online safeguarding and Prevent Duty training to all our workers. All candidates must undertake or have completed a valid enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and subscribe to the DBS Update Service.

Comprehensive support is available. For details regarding our privacy policy, please visit the Protocol Education website.
