Job Title: Process Control Technician

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Process Control Technician to join our team at Liberty Steel Hartlepool. As a key member of our Process Control Department, you will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and calibrating process control systems and equipment within our 42" and 84" pipe mills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform breakdown maintenance on equipment related to process control.
  • Ensure all instrumentation and control systems are calibrated.
  • Keep up-to-date records in electronic format of all calibration information and maintain a ten-year archive of records.
  • Carry out development work, installation, and commissioning of new control systems and equipment.
  • Demonstrate a proactive approach to engineering problems, ensuring continuous improvement is always considered as part of the day-to-day work.

Requirements:

  • Completed an electrical apprenticeship.
  • Worked in a multi-skilled environment within a heavy engineering manufacturing environment.
  • A systematic approach to problem-solving.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge and use of computer-based maintenance software.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience working effectively within a team.
  • Industrial/domestic wiring.
  • Hydraulic and Pneumatic Control Systems.
  • Overhead Cranes & associated safety systems.
  • PLCs in the main Allen Bradley and Siemens.
  • Expertise with AC and DC motor/gearbox drive systems of various configurations.
  • Variable speed motor control with inverters and converters, including speed feedback devices.
