Position Overview

As a key member of the engineering team at Mint Selection, the Mechanical Project Engineer will report directly to the Project Engineering Manager. This role is essential in ensuring the successful execution of engineering projects related to large-scale hydrogen-ready gas peaking and energy storage initiatives. The primary focus will be on a significant hybrid battery and thermal project.

Key Responsibilities:

1. **Design Coordination for Mechanical Engineering Packages:**

a. Oversee the integration of design contributions from all onsite contractors.

b. Proactively detect and address design challenges, escalating to the head of engineering when necessary.

c. Facilitate design coordination meetings among contractors to ensure accountability for engineering packages.

d. Maintain a comprehensive design register and provide ongoing updates to the project team.

e. Ensure timely delivery of design outputs from contractors, adhering to established deadlines.

2. **Document Management for Mechanical Engineering Packages:**

a. Administer all mechanical and process-related drawings and calculations essential for project execution.

b. Guarantee that all contractors utilize the most current revisions of drawings and calculations throughout the design, development, and construction phases.

3. **Communication of Design Information:**

a. Spend a minimum of one day per week onsite during the construction phase to facilitate communication.

b. Conduct regular site visits to assess design progress and assist the project management team with any arising design issues.

4. **Design Development for Future Projects:**

a. Collaborate with the Engineering Director to create designs and specifications while evaluating contractors for upcoming battery and hydrogen-ready gas peaking plants.

5. **Owner's Engineer Role:**

a. Provide oversight of mechanical design work performed by contractors for both current and future projects.

6. **High-Level Mechanical Design Specification:**

a. Deliver comprehensive specifications related to mechanical design for hydrogen-ready gas peaking projects.

7. **Representation in Meetings:**

a. Act as a representative for Mint Selection in discussions with designers, suppliers, and onsite teams.

Additional Skills:

While the primary responsibilities are outlined above, the ideal candidate will possess some or all of the following skills:

· Expertise in gas engine project design.

· Familiarity with electrical safety regulations up to 400kV.

· Experience in gas peaking plant construction.

· Proficient understanding of process engineering, including the ability to analyze PFDs and P&IDs.

· Competence in AutoCAD 2D and 3D CAD design.

Qualifications:

• MEng in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent qualification.

Experience:

3-10 years of experience in an EPC or energy generation setting, specifically in gas peaking plants, energy storage, wind, or solar projects.
