Design Manager Job Description

Fawkes and Reece is seeking an experienced Design Manager to lead the design development for various projects in the Berkshire, Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire, and Gloucestershire areas.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing consultant design teams, reviewing construction design information for buildability and compliance, and ensuring the smooth and timely delivery of detailed design information for procurement and construction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the design development process for multiple projects
  • Lead and coordinate consultant design teams
  • Review and approve construction design information
  • Ensure compliance with building regulations and contractors' proposals
  • Deliver detailed design information for procurement and construction

About the Company:

Fawkes and Reece is a busy southern main contractor with a proven track record in delivering projects ranging from £8m to £20m in value. The company has a strong presence in the private and local authority sectors, including schools, care and retirement homes, colleges, student accommodation, and offices.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in a Design Management role with a Tier 1 or 3 main contractor
  • Excellent technical and commercial knowledge
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • High standards of attention to detail and drive to deliver on programme, specification, and budget
