Finance Assistant Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and numerate individual to join our finance team as a Finance Assistant. The successful candidate will have experience in sales and purchase ledger, as well as making payments on a regular basis.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain supplier accounts, verifying, posting, and reconciling supplier invoices.
  • Prepare a weekly supplier payment run and set up payments in the bank account and send remittance advices to suppliers.
  • Reconcile and input all monthly company credit card statements.
  • Daily track and reconcile bank statements.
  • Process staff expenses and administer and reconcile petty cash.
  • Process weekly customer refunds and set up payments.
  • Process customer remittance payments.
  • Monthly credit control and dispatch customer statements.
  • Prepare monthly payroll for processing by a bureau and keep organized records.
  • Accurately set up salary payments and HMRC payments in the bank.
  • Post journals as required.
  • Maintain and update various financial spreadsheets.
  • Assist in the processing of monthly sales invoices.
  • Assist with monthly VAT return and reconciliation.
  • Assist the Finance Manager with the monthly management reporting and year-end processes.
Requirements:
  • Qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is desirable but not essential.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficiency in using accounting software and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles and practices.
  • Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
