The Role
We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Graduate Assistant Buyer to join our client's team. As a Graduate Assistant Buyer, you will play a critical role in the design and manufacturing of fashion accessories, including bags, belts, wallets, and giftware.
Key Responsibilities
- Critical Path Management: You will be responsible for managing the critical path planner for our brands' new product development (NPD). This will involve diarizing key meetings, monitoring team delivery against deadlines, and escalating any issues to the Head of Brands.
- Sample Management: You will be responsible for managing the sample library, ensuring that all samples are up-to-date and accurately represented.
- Supplier Management: You will maintain regular communication with suppliers to tackle issues in a timely manner, escalating as necessary to the wider team.
- Approvals: You will work with the Merchandiser and Brand Manager to ensure that all samples and product components are delivered from suppliers and approved on time to maintain delivery dates.
- Barcoding: You will design and create bespoke and in-house barcoding for key customers.
- Market Awareness: You will input into the commercial pricing strategy by conducting competitive shopping analysis, including price benchmarking. You will also be aware of sales analysis to support suggestions and improvements to the range and price strategy.
- Range Development: Based on competitor analysis, you will provide suggestions for seasonal range strategy to drive new product development and best value for the customer.
- Creative Support: You will provide graphic support to the Brand Manager, assisting on packaging briefs as required. You will also provide support with marketing and photoshoots alongside the Marketing and Social Media Manager as required. You will pull together product presentations for Brand Managers and Sales to support product strategy and selling.
- Selling Tools: You will be responsible for the successful delivery of selling tools to support our agent network, including the seasonal product catalogue, sales prospecting packs, and salesmen samples.
- Teamwork: You will work alongside the sales, creative, procurement, and merchandising team as the pivotal link between product and commercial.
Requirements
- Market and Industry Knowledge: You will be creative and innovative with an interest in retail, consumer, and product trends.
- Organizational Skills: You will be highly organized, able to proactively manage a wide range of priorities and responsibilities throughout the development process. You will be able to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects.
- Creative Ability: You will have proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office. You will be technically capable, with a flair for creativity.
- Analytical Support: You will be commercially astute with good Excel skills. You will be able to prepare appropriate data to support product meetings. You will be able to accurately input data into systems and the range plan as required to support the wider team.
- Passion for Product: You will have a personal determination and drive to succeed, a passion for products, and an entrepreneurial approach. You will be positive and proactive with a real 'make it happen' approach.
- Effective Teamwork: You will have a collaborative approach and be able to engage effectively and consistently at all levels. You will be willing to flex your workload to support the wider team. You will have excellent communication skills, able to build positive and constructive relationships with colleagues.
- You must live within an easily commutable distance and drive.
