Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with the Council's Housing Allocation Scheme (policy), service procedures, national code of guidance and housing legislation (Part 6 of the Housing Act).
  • Provide comprehensive housing advice and information to households in housing need to ensure their housing needs are met via the appropriate intervention.
  • Interview applicants skilfully and sensitively to elicit as much information as possible, give the appropriate advice and make informed decisions.
  • Demonstrate ICT skills sufficient to maximise the use of software applications, particularly the use of Excel, Performance Management and Housing Allocations Software packages.
  • Understand their role in the context of safeguarding children, young people and vulnerable adults, in a housing environment.
