About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Housing Allocations Specialist to join our team at Novax Recruitment Ltd. As a key member of our housing team, you will be responsible for delivering an efficient and professional allocations service, ensuring the council's Housing Register, allocation of accommodation within the council's own stock and nominations to partner registered provider vacancies are administered in accordance with the Council's Housing Allocation Scheme (policy), service procedures, national code of guidance and housing legislation (Part 6 of the Housing Act).
Key Responsibilities
- Administer the council's Housing Register and allocation of accommodation within the council's own stock and nominations to partner registered provider vacancies.
- Ensure compliance with the Council's Housing Allocation Scheme (policy), service procedures, national code of guidance and housing legislation (Part 6 of the Housing Act).
- Provide comprehensive housing advice and information to households in housing need to ensure their housing needs are met via the appropriate intervention.
- Interview applicants skilfully and sensitively to elicit as much information as possible, give the appropriate advice and make informed decisions.
- Demonstrate ICT skills sufficient to maximise the use of software applications, particularly the use of Excel, Performance Management and Housing Allocations Software packages.
- Understand their role in the context of safeguarding children, young people and vulnerable adults, in a housing environment.
Requirements
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

- Knowledge of housing legislation and policies.
