- Maintain up-to-date maintenance records, including work orders, equipment history, and spare parts inventory.
- Manage the spare parts inventory, ensuring critical components are available to avoid production disruptions.
- Parts Inventory Management:
- Oversee the ordering, storage, and management of spare parts and consumables to ensure that the right parts are available when needed.
- Develop and maintain an organised inventory system, ensuring that minimum stock levels of critical parts are always met without overstocking.
- Monitor usage patterns to optimise stock levels, reduce lead times for critical parts, and avoid production delays.
- Conduct regular audits of the parts inventory, identify obsolete or excess stock, and manage the disposal or return of unused items.
- Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with UK-specific safety regulations, such as those outlined by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and the Environmental Agency.
- Conduct regular safety inspections, hazard assessments, and risk mitigation efforts to maintain a safe working environment.
- Participate in incident investigations and lead efforts to implement corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
- Budget & Cost Management:
- Manage the maintenance department budget, optimising the use of resources while maintaining the quality and reliability of maintenance operations.
- Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives in terms of maintenance supplies, contracts, and energy efficiency.
- Coordinate with external contractors for specialised repairs and maintenance services, negotiating terms and managing relationships with vendors.
- Continuous Improvement & Project Management:
- Identify opportunities to improve production efficiency through upgrades and modifications to equipment and processes.
- Lead and support facility improvement projects, including the installation of new machinery, facility expansions, or upgrades to utilities.
- Collaborate with production, quality, and engineering departments to ensure alignment of maintenance activities with operational goals.
Qualifications:
Education:
- GCSEs or equivalent required. NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or an HNC/HND in a related field. Bachelor's degree in engineering, facilities management, or a related field is preferred.

- Working knowledge of AC/DC drives, automation systems, and controls.
- Experience with CMMS (Computerised Maintenance Management System) software.
- Familiarity with UK-specific safety and environmental standards for manufacturing facilities.
Certifications:
- IOSH or NEBOSH certification is desirable.
- Relevant trade qualifications (e.g., 18th Edition Wiring Regulations for Electrical Engineers).
Soft Skills:
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.
- Clear and effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
Working Conditions:
- Required to work within a production environment that may involve noise, dust, and plastic materials. Personal protective equipment (PPE) will be provided.
- May involve shift work or occasional overtime depending on the production schedule.
- Some hands-on work may be required, including lifting, climbing, and working in confined or elevated spaces.
