Our client, a prominent player in the global chemical manufacturing sector, is seeking an I&E Engineer to enhance their operational capabilities. The primary objective of this role is to optimize plant performance by improving reliability and providing expert electrical and instrumentation engineering support for troubleshooting activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop comprehensive technical specifications for plant instrumentation and equipment repairs, ensuring all repairs are planned, authorized, and executed to the highest standards, including the selection of specialized service providers.
- Deliver technical I&E engineering assistance to the plant operations team, actively engaging in troubleshooting and problem resolution.
- Offer technical guidance during planned maintenance events and outages to address urgent issues and accurately specify necessary work.
- Stay informed about the latest advancements in technology and reliability enhancement techniques, driving continuous improvement initiatives to boost the plant's reliability performance and meet current and future operational goals.
- Contribute technical insights to safety evaluations, safety committees, risk assessments, and incident investigations, ensuring that all actions arising from these processes are completed appropriately.
- Maintain and revise the area I&E life plan, ensuring timely recommendations for capital expenditure replacements and repairs.
- Conduct thorough I&E engineering assessments of plant modifications to ensure that any changes to technology, operational and maintenance practices, equipment, or staffing are properly evaluated to mitigate engineering risks.
Candidate Qualifications:
- A minimum of an HND in Instrumentation Engineering is required.
- Significant experience in Instrumentation Engineering within a 24/7 industrial setting, including:
- Maintenance support and complex fault diagnosis
- Operational support and planned maintenance scheduling
- Development, implementation, and assessment of improvements and modifications (Management of Change)
- Participation in projects from feasibility through to handover
- Membership in a professional organization, with progress towards Incorporated Engineer status.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in the Upper Tier COMAH manufacturing sector is preferred.
- Familiarity with functional safety and experience with IEC 61508 and 61511 standards.
- Understanding of relevant standards related to SIL Assessment and the management and maintenance of Safety Instrumented Systems.
- Knowledge of MOD300 and Delta V DCS Systems.
