About the Role

Key Responsibilities
  • Photonics Test Capability: Design, build, improve, automate, and maintain integrated photonics test setups to deliver the required photonics test capability.
  • Photonics Fabrication Process Performance: Monitor and maintain the performance of photonics fabrication processes, inform simulation (e.g., fill fraction variations batch to batch, over wafer, etc.), and manage data by collating and reporting measurement results.
  • Performance Testing: Testing the performance of integrated photonics devices against specifications.
  • Data Analysis: Analyse and visualise measurement data to ensure accurate reporting and decision-making.
Co-Responsibilities
  • Photonics Component Specification: Achieve and maintain photonic component specifications initially and continually.
  • Failure Analysis and Mitigation: Conduct failure analysis and implement necessary mitigations to ensure optimal performance of photonics components.
Requirements

You will need a Master's or PhD in a relevant field or equivalent experience. Hands-on experience with optical setups and a basic understanding of wave optics are essential. You should have basic coding skills for measurement automation and data analysis. Experience in integrated photonics characterisation is highly desirable. A 'can-do attitude' and the right balance between focus and a desire for exploration are also important for this role.
