Position Summary:

We are on the lookout for a Project Engineer to join our team, responsible for the successful execution of assigned construction and engineering projects at the site level, ensuring adherence to timelines, scope, and quality standards. The role primarily involves the daily management of project activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental standards at all times.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, maintaining professionalism and courtesy in all interactions.
  • Oversee subcontractors and their activities, addressing any issues related to cost, scope, progress, safety, or quality.
  • Proactively manage project logistics, coordinating deliveries and equipment movements while considering site conditions.
  • Maintain and update the project plan digitally, providing accurate reports on progress and delays, and developing lookahead schedules as necessary.
  • Facilitate the execution of Inspection Test Plans to ensure timely sign-off of work packages.
  • Coordinate site mobilization and demobilization, including the hiring and return of necessary equipment.
  • Review and manage Risk Assessments and Method Statements, delivering inductions and toolbox talks as required.
  • Prepare detailed reports and updates for the Project Engineering Manager and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with the Purchasing team to assist in procuring essential materials for installations.
  • Compile and submit accurate project documentation, including As-Built drawings and commissioning records.
  • Propose and implement cost-effective solutions to address unexpected technical challenges promptly.
  • Manage ongoing snagging processes on-site, ensuring timely resolution of issues.
  • Participate in meetings with stakeholders, taking minutes and assigning action items as needed.
  • Assume Site Manager responsibilities when necessary, focusing on compliance with CDM regulations and subcontractor supervision.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience in a relevant field such as construction, electrical, or mechanical engineering.
  • Strong understanding of Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental practices.
  • Proficient in IT applications including Word, Excel, Microsoft Project, and Teams.
  • Familiarity with current Construction (Design and Management) Regulations.
  • Project management capabilities.
  • Basic coaching and negotiation skills.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Background in electrical or mechanical engineering and/or construction.
  • Experience in site management.
  • CSCS card holder.
  • Knowledge of current Construction (Design and Management) Regulations.
  • Strong understanding of Health, Safety, and Environmental standards.
  • Willingness to travel and work away from home as necessary.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Experience with Combined Heat and Power (CHP) installations.
  • Familiarity with related disciplines such as boilers, HV systems, quantity surveying, CAD, planning, SCADA, or BMS.
  • IOSH or SMSTS qualifications.
  • Degree, HND, or HNC in Engineering.

This is a full-time permanent position with a standard workweek of Monday to Friday, totaling 37.5 hours.
