Job Purpose

The role involves overseeing the planning and preparation of financial statements for a portfolio of investment funds, ensuring that reporting deadlines are adhered to and that client accounting needs align with Ocorian's contractual commitments.

Main Responsibilities

  • Gain a thorough understanding of all entities within the fund structure, including the nature of their transactions and reporting needs.
  • Establish and maintain a process to guarantee the timely delivery of client accounting needs related to financial statements and accounts for all entities within the assigned portfolio.
  • Ensure compliance with current accounting standards (UK GAAP, IFRS, or US GAAP) and best practice principles throughout the accounts production process, keeping abreast of developments in these standards.
  • Set up reporting protocols for new funds and other entities based on fund documentation and client reporting specifications.
  • Provide guidance and support to the administration team to ensure that bookkeeping from transactions is executed promptly and accurately.
  • Calculate Net Asset Values according to the specific requirements of each fund.
  • Collaborate with clients and other professional advisors to establish timelines for the production of accounts.
  • Participate in board meetings and other client discussions to present accounts and address accounting-related issues.
  • Coordinate with auditors to ensure the timely completion of audits for funds and related entities.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and statutory reporting obligations.
  • Adhere to Ocorian's policies and procedures within the accounts team and contribute to the ongoing enhancement of these policies and procedures.
  • Attend client meetings, either in place of or alongside the Senior Manager, to advise clients on administrative matters and ensure that board requests are adequately addressed.
  • Perform any other duties that may reasonably be required for this position.

Qualifications: Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Strong and practical accounting skills along with technical accounting expertise.
  • Exceptional presentation, written, and verbal communication abilities.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills, including the ability to manage expectations by distinguishing between what is important and what is urgent.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and strong IT capabilities.
  • Professional demeanor and the ability to earn the respect of clients.
  • Capacity to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Ability to engage with colleagues at all levels.
  • A drive for continuous improvement.
  • Flexibility to adapt as the role evolves.
  • Newly qualified or qualified through relevant experience.
