Senior C&I Systems Engineer for Rolls-Royce SMR

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Instrumentation Control Engineer to join our team at Rolls-Royce SMR. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for providing technical expertise across the lifecycle of Control and Instrumentation (C&I) Systems for our new type of nuclear power station.
Key Responsibilities- Provide technical expertise across the lifecycle of C&I Systems, including design, specification, assessment, verification, testing, installation, commissioning, and maintenance.
- Work closely with engineering teams to deliver industry-leading, cutting-edge design projects.
- Apply structured systems engineering approaches to design and ensure compliance with international standards, including IEC 61513, IEC 61226, and IEC 61508.
- Produce validation plans and define test plans to demonstrate that C&I system requirements have been satisfied.
- Support the procurement, operations, and maintenance aspects of equipment to ensure optimum solutions for the RR SMR Nuclear Power Plant.
- Contribute to the production of safety cases and provide support in liaising with regulators and independent nuclear safety assessors.
- Hold a degree-level qualification in one or more of the engineering disciplines of electrical, electronics, instrumentation, control systems, mechatronics, physics, or computer science.
- Applicants without a degree who can demonstrate suitable experience may also be considered.
- Comprehensive C&I System Design Proficiency.
- Knowledge and experience in the systematic design lifecycle of a C&I system, including specification, design, assessment, verification, testing, installation, commissioning, and maintenance of safety or process-critical C&I systems.
- Adherence to Industry Standards.
- Knowledge and experience of relevant industry standards for systems important to safety (e.g. IEC 61508, IEC 61226, IEC).
- Application of Advanced System Methodologies.
- Knowledge and experience of applying systems engineering methodologies, including Model-Based Systems Engineering to C&I systems.
- Effective Stakeholder Communication.
- Experience in taking information, understanding, and presenting it in an appropriate and compelling format, including formal communications to stakeholders.
- Technical Oversight Proficiency.
- The ability to provide technical oversight of work carried out by supply chain partners.
- A competitive salary of £48,600 - £62,500 (DOE).
- A performance-related bonus of up to 12.5%.
- A benefits allowance of £2,200 per annum, enabling you to create a bespoke package.
- A pension scheme with 12% employer and 6% employee contributions.
- 28 days holiday (plus public holidays) and the ability to buy or sell up to 4 days.

- Life assurance (6x pensionable pay).
- A one-off payment of £250 for new starters for home office purchases.
