Job Title: Clinical Nurse Specialist/Research Nurse

We are seeking an experienced Clinical Nurse Specialist/Research Nurse to join our team at Wrightington Wigan & Leigh Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing and further developing the national NHS England Best Practice Timed Pathways programme for Skin cancer.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Respond to GP urgent referral service for patients with symptoms indicating cancer.
  • Provide rapid triage of patients to reach a definitive diagnosis, advice on management, and signposting to appropriate support services.
  • Ensure delivery of high-quality patient care, practicing autonomously and leading on providing excellent patient care.
  • Participate in audit, quality, and risk management initiatives, and support the evaluation of the Dermatology Pathway Nurse service.
  • Represent the Trust and specialty at internal and external meetings related to the Dermatology service.

Requirements:
  • Registered Nurse with current NMC registration.
  • Degree/Diploma in nursing studies (or equivalent nursing qualification and experience).
  • Evidence of continuous professional development (CPD).
  • Qualification in non-medical prescribing or willingness to undertake.
  • Clinical Assessment and diagnostics qualification or willingness to undertake.
Skills and Knowledge:
  • Effective communication skills in verbal, written, and presentations.
  • Ability to work autonomously and support and influence change.
  • Demonstrate an ability to cope with emotional issues presented in the course of work and support others.
  • Demonstrates evidence-based specialist clinical knowledge with relevant post-registration experience in Dermatology, Cancer, or relevant specialty.
Working Arrangements:

Please note that senior positions (AFC band 8A or above) may be expected to participate in an on-call rota, if the role is predominantly operational.

Ability to travel between sites as required.

Speak English to an appropriate standard relevant to their role.
