Mechanical Works Supervisor Needed

Our client is a leader in the installation of various mechanical systems for the water sector throughout the UK. Their expertise encompasses services such as water and wastewater treatment, including design, fabrication, on-site installation, and testing.

We are representing our client in the search for a Site Supervisor, who will serve as the primary contact responsible for ensuring quality and service delivery in a safe and efficient manner. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of the technical specifications and methodologies associated with mechanical construction activities.

This is a full-time role, requiring 40.5 hours of work per week. The working hours are Monday to Thursday from 8 am to 5 pm and Friday from 8 am to 3 pm.

Key Responsibilities of the Mechanical Works Supervisor:

  • Oversee and manage your team and any subcontractors to ensure that all mechanical construction tasks are executed on time and in compliance with the company's HSEQ and technical standards.
  • Report any unsafe practices, near misses, or pertinent health and safety issues, ensuring they are addressed promptly.
  • Conduct toolbox talks related to mechanical construction activities performed by your team or subcontractors.
  • Collaborate with the Project Engineer on all matters, including health and safety, technical issues, specifications, and progress updates as necessary.
  • Implement the company's Quality Assurance Procedures.
  • Engage with clients and/or main contractors as required.
  • Maintain close communication with the site team on a daily basis to ensure they are informed and meeting expectations.
  • Assist in managing workloads, setting priorities, and resolving conflicts.
  • Establish and nurture strong, trusting relationships with clients and customers.

Requirements for the Mechanical Works Supervisor:

  • Experience in the water industry and construction site environments.
  • Recognized practical qualifications (HND/Degree/Apprenticeship) and certifications (IOSH, CSCS Card, DOMS/National Water Hygiene, etc.).
  • Experience working with materials such as mild steel, stainless steel, and ductile iron pipework.
  • A comprehensive understanding of all relevant health and safety regulations and risk assessments.
  • Willingness to travel throughout Scotland and occasionally to other regions of the UK.
  • Possession of relevant and suitable hand tools.
  • Experience in mechanical plant repair, maintenance, refurbishment, site surveys, problem-solving, and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with pump and drive motor removal and installation.
