Position Summary

We are looking for a knowledgeable and experienced Biodiversity Net Gain Specialist to join our team. This role is crucial in managing and directing planning initiatives with a strong emphasis on biodiversity conservation and enhancement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and direct planning initiatives aimed at achieving Biodiversity Net Gain.
  • Provide expert guidance on biodiversity conservation strategies to internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Conduct ecological assessments and impact evaluations to inform planning decisions.
  • Collaborate with the in-house ecology team to develop and implement effective BNG strategies in compliance with relevant legislation.
  • Engage with governmental bodies to ensure adherence to biodiversity regulations and secure necessary approvals.
  • Build and maintain relationships with Local Planning Authorities and conservation organizations.
  • Work alongside multidisciplinary teams to integrate biodiversity considerations into planning proposals.
  • Stay updated on trends and developments in biodiversity conservation to enhance decision-making.
  • Prepare and present comprehensive reports and proposals to clients and regulatory bodies.
  • Mentor junior staff in biodiversity-related planning processes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Environmental Science, Ecology, Planning, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in environmental planning.
  • Extensive knowledge of biodiversity legislation and planning policies.
  • Demonstrated success in managing biodiversity-focused planning projects.
  • Strong understanding of ecological assessment methodologies.
  • Experience in liaising with government agencies and established relationships within the sector.
  • Exceptional communication skills for conveying complex information effectively.
  • Strong analytical skills for assessing biodiversity impacts in planning contexts.
  • Proficiency in relevant planning and biodiversity assessment software.
