Position Overview

The Complementary Health & Wellbeing (CH&W) team at The Christie NHS FT is seeking a versatile therapist to join our integrated service. Our team is committed to delivering individualized care that is supportive, compassionate, empowering, and resourceful for all service users. We specialize in providing a variety of stress management techniques, both virtually and in-person, as part of our unique and award-winning service. This role is fulfilling, dynamic, and encourages the development of specialized skills and research. You will collaborate with a highly skilled and motivated team to ensure the delivery of exceptional quality care.

Work Schedule

This is a full-time role, with working hours from Monday to Friday, including satellite locations.

Potential Opportunities

Key Responsibilities

We are in search of an enthusiastic therapist with a minimum of two years of experience in the oncology field, possessing knowledge of radiotherapy and chemotherapy. The successful candidate will play a vital role within the team and will be expected to provide support across all clinical areas, as dictated by clinical needs. As a Band 5 therapist, you will coordinate, supervise, and assist trainee staff. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Offering a diverse range of therapies.
  • Triage and prioritize caseloads.
  • Conducting assessments and making key decisions regarding service users' needs and treatment plans.

Clinical Practice and Management

As part of your role, you will:

  • Monitor the use of consumables and supplies within your areas of responsibility.
  • Assist in recording departmental activities.
  • Support daily monitoring of attendance, sickness, and absence of CH&W staff.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety requirements.

Leadership and Advocacy

You will provide a clinical profile, leading by example, and contribute both advisory and clinical input into care pathways for service users. Your role will also involve:

  • Acting as a role model for standards of care and professionalism.
  • Identifying gaps in service provision.
  • Advocating for patients, carers, and staff.
  • Facilitating change with the support of clinical leads.

Education and Development

In addition to clinical responsibilities, you will assist in delivering educational programs for staff and clients, identify your own development needs, and support the learning environment for students and staff.

Research and Service Improvement

You will engage in evaluating clinical practice through audits, maintain awareness of current developments in your field, and assist in implementing research findings relevant to practice.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential:

  • Complementary Therapy diploma, including massage qualification.
  • Previous experience at practitioner level in complementary therapies.
  • Portfolio demonstrating achievements in practice.

Desirable:

  • Teaching qualification or student clinical educators course.
  • Experience in oncology.
