About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Business Development Manager to join our team at Biffa Waste Services. As a key member of our commercial team, you will be responsible for driving significant top-line growth within our National Bulk Liquid offering.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities to collect and transport waste liquid volumes using our national road tanker fleet.
  • Proactively sell profitable new business in line with operating areas of strength, to achieve and exceed quarterly/annual new business targets.
  • Develop and manage a detailed new business pipeline to provide a clear business forecast of expected volumes and over-achieving on targeted new business sales revenues.
  • Work closely with the General Manager Tankers to drive a growth strategy aligned with the needs of the business.
  • Maintain data within our business CRM platform, enabling it to be managed within the appropriate marketing campaigns.
  • Liaise regularly with other commercial functions to share pipelines and best practice.
Requirements
  • Experience of successfully developing, managing, and implementing new business services.
  • General knowledge of the waste sector.
  • Excellent presentation, selling, negotiating, and influential skills.
  • Articulate, confident, and assertive.
  • Analytical and able to quickly assess issues and recommend and/or implement solutions.
  • Ability to work in partnership with internal departments, customers, and other organizations.
  • Robust and resilient, able to absorb pressure and respond positively.
  • Experience of building and maintaining customer relationships.
  • Pragmatic approach to delivering to tight deadlines and targets.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize.
  • Ability to deal with conflict and negotiate/manage the appropriate outcome.
  • Ability to work with a minimum of supervision and on own initiative.
  • The ability to communicate with conviction, plan with precision, and, most importantly, play well with others.
  • Minimum GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Maths, however A-Levels or a Degree certainly won't do any harm.
