Role Overview

As a Lecturer in Nuclear Related Technologies, your primary responsibility will be to cultivate a constructive learning atmosphere for degree-level apprentices embarking on their engineering journeys. You will be instrumental in teaching the nuclear components of our apprenticeship programs, ensuring that learners receive a comprehensive education that meets industry standards.

This role offers a unique chance for someone with a background in the nuclear field who is eager to share their knowledge and experience. You will collaborate with a committed team to deliver the curriculum for various nuclear technology programs, including the Nuclear Technician and Nuclear Scientist Apprenticeships. A teaching qualification and a robust vocational background in nuclear technologies, including design, manufacturing, operations, and decommissioning, are highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Higher Education team to implement degree apprenticeship programs.
  • Teach and evaluate assigned classes in line with established educational practices.
  • Maintain professional expertise through ongoing development initiatives.
  • Create course materials that align with the curriculum framework.
  • Engage in internal verification and assess course effectiveness.
  • Contribute to curriculum development to meet the evolving needs of the subject area.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and protocols.
  • Assist with administrative tasks as needed.

Candidate Profile

We seek a candidate with relevant industry experience and a minimum of a BEng or BSc Hons at Class 2.1 or above in nuclear technology or a related field. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential for engaging with learners and colleagues.

The ideal candidate will inspire future engineers and promote high standards across all educational endeavors. Familiarity with apprenticeship standards is advantageous, and a willingness to obtain a PgCert Ed or equivalent is encouraged.
