Job Title: Pharmacy Technician Apprentice

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Foundation Trust as a Pharmacy Technician Apprentice. As a Pharmacy Technician Apprentice, you will be part of a dynamic team that provides high-quality pharmacy services to patients across Northern, Eastern, and Mid Devon.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for learning and developing the skills and knowledge required to become a registered Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC). You will work closely with experienced Pharmacy Technicians and other healthcare professionals to provide a safe and effective pharmacy service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Receiving and issuing prescriptions using an electronic prescribing system
  • Dispensing and carrying out the final accuracy check on a variety of prescriptions
  • Using aseptic technique to compound systemic anti-cancer therapies and preparing associated processes
  • Medicine stock control and supply
  • Medicine procurement and receipt, including managing discrepancies
  • Ward-based medicines management and optimisation
  • Providing excellent customer care and maintaining patient confidentiality
Training and Development

You will undertake a wide range of duties and responsibilities, including virtual guided learning and workplace training. You will be allocated a practice supervisor and an educational supervisor to support your development and progress.

To be successful in this role, you will need to be enthusiastic, hard-working, and self-motivated with good written and verbal communication skills. You will also need to be able to work effectively as part of a team and maintain confidentiality.
