Key Responsibilities

As a Pharmacy Technician, your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Dispensing medication supplies to various departments in accordance with established procedures, including participation in clinical trials.
  • Preparing emergency medication kits for adults and children, ensuring all necessary documentation is completed and appropriate charges are processed through the computer system.
  • Serving as an Accredited Technician Checker, having completed the required training, and spending time in the dispensary to perform final checks on dispensed medications.
  • Engaging in audits and contributing to the development of departmental services, including policy updates and enhancements to operational practices.
  • Providing guidance to patients visiting the pharmacy on the safe administration of their medications and informing them of potential side effects associated with their treatments.

Candidate Profile

Qualifications

Essential

  • Professional Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
  • Accreditation as an ACT (Accredited Checking Technician); qualified pharmacists may also be considered.
  • Completion of NVQ Level 3 in Pharmaceutical Services or an equivalent qualification.

Experience

Essential

  • A minimum of 6 months of experience in a hospital or community pharmacy setting within the UK.
