About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Nurse Team Leader to join our team at East and North Herts NHS Trust. As a key member of our Oncology department, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality patient care and leading a team of nursing professionals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of nursing professionals to deliver high-quality patient care
  • Coordinate the overall management of the Oncology department
  • Facilitate education and support for qualified and unqualified staff
  • Participate in the development of nursing practice in the clinical area
  • Work independently and autonomously, accountable for own professional actions
  • Deputise and support the ward Sister as needed
Requirements
  • Registered Nurse with current registration
  • In possession of Oncology or Haematology Care modules
  • SACT accredited course or competencies
  • Proven experience at Band 5 in Oncology/Haematology
  • Working with learners, handling distressed patients and carers, and other staff members
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • BSc/Msc in a relevant field
  • Counselling Skills
  • Mentorship or teaching course
  • Team nursing, change management, working with chemo care or electronic prescribing systems, CVADS, and audits
Skills and Abilities
  • Team player with good communication skills
  • Proven leadership skills
  • Cytotoxic drug administration
  • Cannulation and Venepuncture
  • Ability to prioritise patient care
  • Resource management, IT skills, teaching skills, and manage ward/department in Sister's absence
