Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Counselling Lecturer to join our team at South Hampshire College Group. As a Counselling Lecturer, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching and learning experiences to our students, as well as contributing to the development of our Counselling programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teaching and Learning: Deliver classroom teaching, tutorial work, and associated outreach duties, including residential, open, and distance learning courses, and student placements.
  • Organizational and Administrative Work: Perform all associated organizational and administrative work, preparation, and marking, as well as student welfare and academic counselling responsibilities.
  • Personal Tutoring: Act as a Personal Tutor to students as required, undertaking all associated duties, including pastoral care support.
  • Team Contribution: Make a full contribution to the team approach to learning and teaching.
  • Student-Centred Learning: Implement a student-centred negotiated learning program in accordance with the College's curriculum framework.
  • Induction and Support: Implement agreed induction procedures and processes for students, ensuring they are informed of what is expected of them at every stage of their program.
  • Assessment and Feedback: Ensure that students are regularly set and assessed, and receive feedback in ways that allow them to develop and achieve progression.
  • Work Placements: Contribute to the organization of and ensure that there are appropriate work placements.

Requirements:

  • Adaptability and Flexibility: Be adaptable and flexible in approach.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of people at all ages and levels.
  • Time Management: Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines within a busy environment.

Qualifications:

  • English and Maths: Minimum GCSE Grade 4/C in English and Maths.
  • Relevant Qualifications: Level 4 qualification in a relevant area of expertise (or commitment to achieving this in the required timeframe).
  • Teaching Qualification: Level 5 Teaching qualification (or commitment to achieving this in the required timeframe).
