Role Objective

The primary objective of this position is to proficiently manage, assess, and maintain an asphalt production facility to guarantee the output of materials that adhere to the organization's quality benchmarks. This includes strategizing the production schedule for the subsequent day based on client needs and the plant's operational capabilities, alongside overseeing start-up and shut-down processes while maximizing throughput within the plant's operational limits. Furthermore, the role entails comprehensive inspection and surveillance of the facility in line with the site's established protocols. Maintenance and repair duties within the individual's expertise are crucial, and precise documentation must be upheld to satisfy management standards. The role also involves refueling both stationary and mobile machinery, as well as operating mobile plant equipment such as Front-End Loaders (FEL) for loading and plant feeding, and dumpers for mineral transportation, as directed by site management. Ensuring the safe and efficient operation of machinery is paramount. Additionally, the position includes performing maintenance tasks on both stationary and mobile plant equipment as dictated by the manufacturer's specifications and Heidelberg Materials standards. It is essential to note that these responsibilities may also be executed at other Heidelberg Materials locations within a reasonable commuting distance, with transportation or travel allowances potentially provided if the distance surpasses the standard journey.

Key Responsibilities

  • Adhere to all health and safety directives on site.
  • Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and organization on site.
  • Complete and sign off on daily, weekly, and monthly inspections assigned to them.
  • Encourage fellow staff to report near misses and ensure these are communicated as necessary.
  • Inform the Foreman/Production Supervisor of any emerging issues with personnel or equipment.
  • Assist the Foreman/Production Supervisor in overseeing contractors and visitors.
  • Collaborate with the Foreman/Production Supervisor to ensure compliance with the environmental management system.
  • Work with the Foreman/Production Supervisor to ensure adherence to the Quality Management System and maintain high service standards.

Qualifications

  • Possess or be willing to pursue a QCF in Plant Operations.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary: £12.48 per hour plus a weekly bonus scheme.

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday with additional overtime as required by business needs, including weekends and occasional night shifts.
