About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Product Development Manager to join our team at JD Sports. As a key member of our Product Development team, you will be responsible for managing the development of our own brand products, ensuring they meet the highest quality and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the Product Development team in their category, providing support and guidance where needed.
  • Develop and implement effective Critical Path management strategies to ensure timely and efficient product development.
  • Work closely with the Own Label Development Manager to develop and implement systems and processes to support the international growth of our own brands, joint ventures, and franchises.
  • Monitor and report on sampling, margin, and quality performance for their category.
  • Ensure excellence in product safety and compliance to all relevant local and global standards.
  • Manage the system and process of blocks, size charts, grading, and garment fit within the category to ensure compliance, safety, and fitness for purpose.
  • Develop and implement effective supplier management strategies to ensure ethical negotiation and sourcing.
  • Provide technical advice and support to the category team.
  • Support the category to work towards departmental sustainability initiatives.
  • Conduct factory visits and warehouse trips to develop and improve production, evaluating sources for lead-time, cost, capability, and location.

Requirements:

  • Excellent Critical Path Management skills.
  • Confident communication with senior stakeholders.
  • Ability to demonstrate excellent people management and leadership skills.
  • Adaptability to work across projects and category ranges to benefit departmental strategy.
