Job Summary:
Theo James Recruitment is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Quality Engineer to join a prestigious aerospace company based in Gloucester. This is a pivotal role that offers the opportunity to lead quality assurance and control initiatives, ensuring the highest standards are maintained throughout the production process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of quality engineers and technicians to meet departmental objectives.
- Design, implement, and sustain quality assurance systems and processes to ensure alignment with aerospace standards.
- Carry out audits to ensure compliance with both internal and external quality standards and regulatory frameworks.
- Collaborate with teams across design, manufacturing, and supply chain to embed quality throughout the entire product lifecycle.
- Review and validate engineering changes, production processes, and documentation to assess quality impact.
- Interpret and analyze quality data to identify trends and pinpoint areas for potential improvement.
- Liaise with customers and regulatory bodies to address quality issues and ensure swift resolutions.
- Prepare and present detailed quality reports, key metrics, and actionable recommendations to senior management.
- Act as the primary contact for quality concerns during production meetings and support ongoing production efforts.
- Support New Product Introduction (NPI) and Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) activities.
- Assist in developing and maintaining FMEA, PPAP, and APQP documentation by customer and regulatory requirements.
- Perform additional quality-related tasks as required.
Requirements:
- Extensive experience in quality engineering within the aerospace industry.
- Deep understanding of aerospace standards and regulatory requirements (AS9100, ISO 9001).
- Proficient in quality tools and methodologies such as Six Sigma, Lean, FMEA, SPC, and root cause analysis.
- Certifications in quality management (e.g., CQI, CQE).
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Assurance, or a related field is required, with an advanced degree preferred.
