We are currently seeking a Planning Strategy Lead to become a part of our welcoming team. This position is primarily remote, with travel required to various sites, allowing for flexible location options. This role is a fixed-term contract.

Key Responsibilities

The Planning Strategy Lead plays a crucial role in ensuring the sustainability of mineral reserves and land by negotiating land rights and securing Planning Permissions. This position encompasses both new developments and the upkeep of rights and permissions for ongoing operations.

During your tenure, your focus will be on managing planning applications and Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs), while also engaging with external specialists, regulators, neighbors, and other stakeholders. You will provide guidance to operational teams regarding compliance with existing planning permissions. Experience in broader land management will be a plus.

Ideal Candidate Profile

To excel in the role of Planning Strategy Lead, you should possess:

  • Relevant experience in the practical and legal dimensions of the Planning process in England and Wales, along with Environmental Impact Assessment knowledge.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, coupled with strong organizational abilities.
  • A self-driven approach and a commitment to developing and maintaining essential skills.

You will be capable of:

  • Collaborating with internal and external experts to assess technical inputs and project designs.
  • Engaging with communities, regulators, landowners, and other stakeholders.
  • Managing and directing external consultant teams and associated expenditures.

Qualifications

Chartered status through RICS, RTPI, and/or IEMA professional bodies is preferred. While prior experience in Minerals Planning or Estates is not mandatory, transferable skills from relevant fields will be taken into account. This position offers an excellent opportunity to enhance valuable skills and gain specialized experience.
