Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Optimization Developer to join our team at Capita, where you will have the opportunity to work on a cutting-edge business scheduling solution that leverages advanced mathematical optimization techniques to extract maximum value from available data.

This role provides an excellent opportunity to learn or expand your experience in optimization techniques, working alongside experienced optimization consultants and contributing to the design, development, and testing of the schedule optimization solution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement mathematical optimization models to solve complex business problems
  • Collaborate with business analysts to understand client requirements and transform them into optimized solutions
  • Work with service designers and optimization experts to design and implement optimized solutions
  • Build and deliver high-quality optimization solutions using Cplex, Gurobi, or Xpress
  • Conduct thorough testing and validation of optimization solutions to ensure accuracy and reliability
  • Document and communicate optimization solutions to stakeholders

Requirements:

  • Strong background in mathematics (Degree level), coupled with high-quality programming skills
  • Strong coding experience in Java is essential
  • Experience in evaluating and tuning performance of data extraction and manipulation functionality
  • Experience of linear programming, mixed integer programming, and other advanced optimization techniques
  • Knowledge of algorithmics outside mathematical programming, including graph algorithms, approximation algorithms, and heuristics
  • Knowledge of parallel processing and hardware implementation aspects of mathematical algorithms
  • Knowledge of performance tuning of optimization solutions
  • Experience building solutions to real-life optimization problems
  • Self-motivated and able to work as part of a distributed team
  • Background in Government/Secure services or experience working on similar projects is desirable
