About the Role:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Youth Justice Support Worker to join our team at a National Children's Residential Organisation. As a Youth Justice Support Worker, you will be responsible for providing direct support and care to young people aged 16 to 17 years.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct support and care to young people aged 16 to 17 years, promoting their physical, emotional, and psychological well-being.
- Safeguard young people through collaborative working with external agencies and emergency services, ensuring compliance with local authority safeguarding procedures.
- Work closely with local authorities to reduce young people's offending behaviour and support them to complete their court orders.
- Ensure a trauma-informed environment within the home at all times, promoting a culture of safety and respect.
Requirements:
- Hold a relevant qualification in Social Work, Probation, Youth Justice, or Youth Work.
- At least 1 year of experience working with young people at risk of custody.
- An understanding of the issues facing young people, including the impact of trauma and adversity.
- The ability to cope effectively with challenging behaviour, using de-escalation techniques and crisis management strategies.
- Good communication and team working skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with young people, colleagues, and external agencies.
- Flexibility to work shifts, including weekends and bank holidays.
- Working knowledge and thorough understanding of the barriers and challenges that non-white young people face within the criminal justice system.
