Position Overview: The role is situated within a collaborative environment where the successful candidates will integrate into a dedicated team of glaucoma experts, contributing to a regional glaucoma service.

Team Structure: The new team member will be part of a group of 14 specialists responsible for delivering comprehensive ophthalmology services. Participation in the on-call rota is expected, ensuring continuous patient care.

Patient Care Responsibilities: You will maintain ongoing accountability for the health and well-being of all patients under your supervision, ensuring effective delegation and mentorship of team members.

Operational Duties: In collaboration with clinical and administrative colleagues, you will oversee the safe and efficient operation of the services, aligning with the health board's values and strategic plans.

Service Development: The services are undergoing reconfiguration to enhance safety and sustainability. Flexibility to work at various locations within the health board may be required.

Professional Development: We prioritize continuous professional growth and will support you in achieving your personal and professional objectives.

Qualifications Required:

  • Registered with the GMC
  • Licensed to practice
  • On Specialist Register with GMC in Ophthalmology or eligible for CCT
  • Possession of a relevant degree/diploma
  • Teaching qualification or higher qualification in medical education

Skills and Experience:

  • Proven ability to foster effective working relationships across various levels of staff
  • Experience in collaborating with management and clinical teams to enhance service delivery
  • Commitment to partnership with external agencies
  • Experience in teaching and training clinical staff
  • Demonstrated ability to initiate and complete audits

Educational Contributions: Ability to instruct undergraduate students in diverse settings.

Management and Leadership: Completion of management training and demonstration of leadership qualities are essential.
