About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Clinical, Forensic or Counselling Psychologist to join our team at Walkerwood, a 10-bedded male Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) within the Rehabilitation and High Support (RHS) Care Hub.

The successful candidate will be responsible for promoting and managing high-quality psychology input at Walkerwood, working closely with a respected psychology team that includes a Consultant Clinical Psychologist and Assistant Psychologists.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide psychological assessment, formulation, and intervention to service users with complex mental health problems, including psychosis, trauma, and forensic histories.
  • Develop and implement trauma-informed care approaches and reduce restrictive practices.
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team (MDT) to provide clinical supervision, training, and support.
  • Contribute to service developments, quality improvement projects, and governance within the service.
Requirements
  • Postgraduate doctoral level training in clinical psychology, forensic psychology, or counselling psychology.
  • Current registration as a Clinical, Forensic, or Counselling Psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council.
  • Demonstrable experience of specialist assessment and treatment of adult clients in an inpatient setting.
  • Experience of working with complex mental health problems, including psychosis, trauma, and forensic histories.
  • Ability to work at a high level of professional autonomy and responsibility in a collaborative multi-disciplinary environment.
