**About the Role:**

We are seeking an experienced Senior Operations Manager to lead our recycling operations across four sites in Berkshire. As a General Manager - Recycling Operations, you will be responsible for managing a team of 9 Plant Supervisors, overseeing 30 different recycling and processing lines, and a staff of 75 covering recycling and machine operatives, drivers, weighbridge operators, and maintenance fitters.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Recycling Processing & Site Operations: Manage day-to-day operations of a large volume of WEEE recycling orders and materials across four sites, ensuring efficient processing and compliance with environmental regulations.
  2. Recycling Operatives - HR Staffing & Team Management: Manage operational recycling staff and team management across three busy sites, including workload management, performance management, issue identification, and resolution.
  3. Management of Permanent and Agency Operational Staff: Cover appraisals, salary reviews, agency timecards, staff absence, holiday, and staff payments/attendance bonus/travel allowance. Strong working knowledge of operational employees' contract terms and HR grievance, disciplinary, and dismissal processes required.
  4. Plant Supervisor & Operational Staff Training: Manage all aspects of operational staff training, including technical, line, and machine operations, health and safety, environmental compliance, and internal company staff training materials/logs.
  5. Recycling Plant Machine Maintenance: Work with Plant Supervisors and Maintenance Team to ensure timely identification, reporting, and fixing of issues or faults across all plant and recycling machinery.
  6. Health & Safety: Manage all aspects of Health & Safety across four sites, including safety awareness, working conditions, practices, training certification, HSE compliance, incident reporting, and documentation.
  7. Site Security: Ensure efficient management of site security, access, and CCTV, with up-to-date communication of risks, issues, and incident logs.
  8. Internal Operational Reporting & Performance Tracking: Prepare for and participate in workload/resource planning meetings with the MD and management team, develop operational performance management reporting, metrics, and KPIs.
  9. Internal Management & Financial Reporting: Cover all aspects of team, staffing, and HR management of all operational resources, including participation in customer workload forecasting, financial and budget planning, P&L management, operational, logistics, machinery budgeting/spend tracking, and reconciliation.

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Experience in senior operations management, preferably in the recycling industry.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and manage a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve complex issues.
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with multiple priorities and deadlines.
