Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Design Engineer to join our team in London. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating design activities, ensuring that projects are delivered on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate design activities to ensure that projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Work closely with the project manager and design team to ensure that design requirements are met.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients, design consultants, and other stakeholders.
  • Manage design interfaces and ensure that all parties are aware of their responsibilities.
  • Monitor and track progress of design activities and identify areas for improvement.
  • Develop and implement value engineering opportunities to reduce costs and improve efficiency.
  • Work with the procurement team to ensure compliance with financial parameters and assist in defining scopes for subcontracting.
  • Ensure that design activities comply with health, safety, environmental, and quality requirements.
  • Work with the Health and Safety, Quality, and Environmental teams to support audits and ensure compliance.
  • Review and agree consultants' monthly applications for payment.
  • Assist the Design Manager in managing the design team, providing advice on resourcing levels, performance management, employee development, and motivation.

Requirements

  • Experience in design coordination roles.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to use time productively, maximize efficiency, and meet challenging work goals.
  • Ability to take on additional responsibilities as needed and determine and manage priorities with minimal guidance.
  • Proactive approach to incorporate new technologies on site at different stages of the project.
  • Experience of working in a cost-conscious environment.
  • People management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to interact at a variety of levels.
  • Excellent written and oral English language.
  • Experience of working in the construction industry.
