Family Play Therapy Specialist

Red Snapper Recruitment is seeking a highly skilled Family Play Therapy Specialist to join our team in Central Bedfordshire. As a Family Play Therapy Specialist, you will play a vital role in delivering person-centred, age-appropriate, strengths-based support to children and young people affected by domestic abuse.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a caseload of children and young people, ensuring a strengths-based approach that enables them to realise their potential.
- Offer support, advocacy, and information to all children and young people, producing individual support plans that include actions identified and required from assessments.
- Undertake therapeutic assessments to determine the suitability of children and young people for play therapy.
- Plan and provide direct and indirect play therapy opportunities, encouraging children and young people to develop and express themselves through activities and play.
- Encourage co-production with children and young people, using engagement techniques to seek their views and explore ideas for future service provision.
- Build good working relationships with parents and develop effective partnership working to achieve best outcomes.
Requirements:
- A recognised professional qualification in psychotherapy or counselling at a minimum of Dip/PGDip level or above.
- Demonstrable experience of providing outcomes-focused therapy to children, young people, and their families.
- A good understanding of theories of child development and attachment.
- Experience of organising and providing appropriate play and other activities.
- An in-depth understanding of the impact of domestic abuse on children and young people.
