We have a fantastic opportunity to work within YMCA's well-respected sexual violence support service in Bedford. This role will be offered on a three-year fixed-term contract. We pay £26,121 for qualified ISVAs, and £22,991 if you do not have an ISVA qualification.
**Flexibility**: We can also offer this role on a part-time basis at 30 hours per week (80% of full-time) if this is of interest to you, in which case the above salaries would be pro-rated to 80%.
We go the extra mile to help survivors gain the confidence and access the support and information they need, to take control of their situation and move forward.
You will work with a varied caseload, and it is intended that this role will spend a significant proportion of time supporting LGBTQ+ clients. There are barriers to support for this group, so you will also need to be enthusiastic about taking on developmental work for this role - for example outreach in schools, or developing referral pathways with specialist services.
Independent Sexual Violence Advisors and Independent Domestic Violence Advisors play an important role in providing specialist tailored support to victims and survivors of sexual violence and you will work with people who have experienced rape and sexual assault, irrespective of whether they have reported to the police. As an adviser, you will provide impartial information to the victim/survivor about all of their options, such as reporting to the police, accessing Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC) services, specialist support such as pre-trial therapy and sexual violence counselling.
You will also provide information on other services that victims/survivors may require, for example in relation to health and social care, housing, or benefits. They will provide ongoing continuity, advocacy and impartial advice and information to a victim/survivor of sexual violence.
Some evening and weekend work will be required.
You will need access to a suitably-insured car for work use.
**An Enhanced Disclosure check and satisfactory police vetting are required for this role.
