About the Department
We are excited to announce an opening for a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to become a permanent member of our team at the Bath Record Office: Archives and Local Studies.
The Bath Record Office is an Accredited Archives service that preserves and provides access to a diverse array of collections, documenting the rich history of Bath & North East Somerset from the 12th century to the present. As a statutory local government service, we serve as a Place of Deposit for Public Records and welcome over 1,000 visitors annually, addressing more than 3,000 inquiries each year. Our activities include giving presentations, hosting workshops, collaborating with community partners, conducting tours, and curating exhibitions, alongside our core archival services.
Role Overview
In this role, you will be instrumental in facilitating our public access services. Your responsibilities will include:
- Welcoming, supervising, and assisting visitors in our search rooms.
- Responding to remote inquiries and processing copying requests.
- Supporting collections management activities.
Candidate Profile
We seek an individual with:
- Exceptional customer service abilities.
- A genuine interest in archives and library collections, particularly in enhancing access for a broad audience.
- The capability to thrive in a small, multi-skilled team environment, as well as the independence to work autonomously.
