About the Role:

The Senior Analyst will be responsible for managing and implementing IT projects to improve management and control systems within the Global Energy Markets (GEM) team. This role will involve working closely with the Structured Products and Crude Oil Derivatives Market Risk teams to provide real-time front-line control and information for management and traders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead projects to enhance the performance of Middle Office functions, including analysis of positions, VaR calculation and analysis, automation of processes, and calculation of cash usage.
  • Develop and maintain a good knowledge of risk metrics, including VaR, stress testing, and scenario analysis.
  • Collaborate with the risk management team to provide commentary and development on risk metrics.
  • Work closely with the Trade Control and Credit departments to improve processes and ensure accurate risk management.
  • Provide cover for the Structured Products and Crude Oil Derivatives Market Risk teams in reporting and related responsibilities.

Requirements:

  • Strong IT skills, including excellent Python, VBA, and SQL knowledge.
  • Experience in successfully implementing IT projects.
  • Knowledge of the market risk/product control role within trading companies or banks.
  • Knowledge of risk metrics, including VaR, stress testing, and scenario analysis.
  • Ability to communicate concisely to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Analytical mind and good numerical skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build and nurture effective relationships across the organization.
