Market Risk Control Analyst

Fantastic opportunity for a skilled Market Risk Control Analyst to join a highly respected and successful business based in London.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Daily Analysis of Trading Positions: Conduct in-depth analysis of trading positions, P&L, and VaR on an aggregate portfolio basis down to the trading portfolio level.
  • Trading Activity Monitoring: Monitor trading activity daily against established trading authority limits and work closely with Traders to adjust limits as business dictates.
  • Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure adherence to S&T Control Policy and escalate to the appropriate level when necessary.
  • Price Curve Management: Create, adjust, and validate price curves working with the front office to ensure accuracy to market exposure.
  • System and Project Management: Collaborate with IT and Risk Control Global teams on system and ad-hoc projects driving adoption of digital tools, global alignment, and timely implementations.
  • Ad-Hoc Analysis: Perform ad-hoc analysis of commodity price volatilities, correlations, absolute prices, VaR, or other duties as assigned.
  • Trading System Data Stewardship: Act as steward for trading system data.
Key Skills & Experience:
  • Minimum 3 Years' Experience: Minimum of 3 years' Risk Control/Market Risk experience gained within an Oil & Gas or Bank trading environment.
  • Excellent Interpersonal Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to explain complex subjects to all levels from Traders through to Senior Managers.
  • Commodity Fundamentals: Understanding of the underlying fundamentals of commodity and product flow.
  • Data Analysis: Ability to analyze large data sets to enable insightful analysis that explains drivers in exposure, P&L, and VaR to Supply & Trading organization.
  • Technical Skills: Highly proficient with Excel and trading database applications.
  • Communication: Ability to work closely with S&T trading and trade analysts to provide theory and logic of the risk values presented in the Daily Management Risk Report.
  • Recommendations: Provide clear, logical recommendations in a concise manner to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Complex Topic Synthesis: Ability to synthesize complex topics and present appropriate level of detail for the audience.
