About the Position:
We are looking for a committed and empathetic Educational Support Specialist to become part of our dynamic educational team in Oxfordshire.
This position is perfect for individuals who are enthusiastic about positively impacting students' lives, whether in mainstream or Special Educational Needs (SEN) environments.
The ideal candidate will assist educators in providing exceptional educational experiences and offer personalized support to students to enrich their learning journey.
Primary Responsibilities:
Assist the classroom teacher in preparing and delivering stimulating lessons.
Provide individualized or small group assistance to students, including those with SEN, to promote their academic, social, and emotional growth.
Facilitate the inclusion of SEN students within mainstream classes, ensuring a welcoming learning atmosphere.Track and report on student progress, offering feedback to educators and participating in parent-teacher discussions.
Oversee and support students during extracurricular activities, breaks, and educational trips.
Help manage classroom behavior, fostering a positive and effective learning environment.
Perform administrative duties such as preparing materials, maintaining student records, and organizing equipment.
Collaborate with fellow educational support staff, SEN coordinators, and school personnel to exchange best practices and strategies.
Qualifications:
Prior experience working with children in an educational context, ideally with both mainstream and SEN students.
A relevant qualification in education, childcare, or a related discipline (e.g., CACHE Level 2/3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools, SEN certifications).
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with the capacity to build constructive relationships with students, staff, and parents.Patience, empathy, and a sincere interest in addressing the educational and developmental needs of all students.
Flexibility and adaptability to meet the evolving demands of the classroom.
Understanding of various SEN conditions and effective instructional strategies to support diverse learners.
Basic computer skills for record-keeping and resource preparation.
Preferred:
Experience in implementing interventions or support programs for students with SEN.
Training in behavior management techniques and de-escalation methods.
