Job Description:

At Leonardo, we are seeking highly motivated and enthusiastic individuals to fill our industrial placement roles as Mechanical Engineers. As a member of our multi-discipline team, you will play a crucial role in advancing our world-leading products in the Defence domain.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the design and development of our electro-optic, communications, and information systems products under the guidance of experienced mechanical engineers.
  • Acquire the skills required to work effectively within a professional engineering environment.
  • Collaborate with the mechanical engineering team to deliver technical solutions that meet customer needs.
  • Develop and present design data to ensure adherence to departmental best practices and utilize industry-leading tool sets.
  • Deliver detailed designs, including numerical calculations, tolerance studies, and manufacturing data packs in line with BS8888.
  • Generate piece parts, assemblies, and mechanisms within defined constraints.
  • Meet cost, schedule, and quality demands.
Requirements:
  • Currently undertaking a minimum of a Bachelor's level degree in Mechanical Engineering or a similar field.
  • Self-motivated individual willing to take on new challenges and drive continuous personal development.
  • Strong communication skills across various mediums.
  • Ability to develop effective working relationships with peers and stakeholders.
  • Adaptable to changing demands within the role.
  • Offer novel ideas and methods for solving technical problems.
