The Royal Over-Seas League is a charitable institution established in 1910, committed to fostering global camaraderie, which is the foundation of our international membership. We operate a vibrant arts program, supporting emerging musicians and artists, highlighted by a renowned Annual Music Competition that has been running for 72 years. Our organization boasts a stunning Grade I listed clubhouse located in a prestigious area, hosting a dynamic array of events including concerts, art exhibitions, public discussions, and gourmet dining experiences.
Role Overview
Under the guidance of the Chief Engineer and adhering to the policies and procedures of our organization, your main responsibilities will include:
- Overseeing the repair and maintenance of electrical, plumbing, ventilation, and other building systems, as well as the overall fabric and grounds of the premises.
- Assisting in the development and execution of effective maintenance protocols to enhance quality and operational performance.
- Conducting routine inspections of the facility, with a focus on rooms, plant areas, public spaces, and kitchens.
- Managing relationships with contractors and suppliers to ensure optimal value is consistently achieved.
- Being mindful of budgetary constraints related to maintenance activities.
- Executing reactive maintenance tasks across various areas of the facility.
- Upholding high standards within the maintenance department.
- Keeping accurate digital and manual records of all maintenance operations, including job sheets, reports, and operational manuals.
- Assisting in the preparation and execution of emergency protocols for incidents such as flooding, power outages, or heating and ventilation failures.
- Maintaining an inventory of essential materials, spare parts, and tools.
- Ensuring the maintenance office and workshop are organized and that tools, hazardous materials, and personal protective equipment are stored safely.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A Level 2 Electrical qualification or equivalent.
- Experience in managing emergency repairs, including plumbing, heating, and HVAC systems.
- Practical experience with building maintenance tools and equipment.
- Knowledge of maintenance materials and supplier management.
- An understanding of Health and Safety regulations, preferably with IOSH certification.
- Experience in external building upkeep.
- Skills in painting, decorating, and tiling.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications: Outlook, Word, Excel.
- The ability to manage multiple tasks effectively, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Excellent customer service capabilities.
- The ability to perform well under pressure.
- A collaborative team spirit.
- Experience in a hospitality or venue sales environment is advantageous.
