Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced General Paediatric Consultant to join our team at Whittington Hospital NHS Trust. This is a 1-year fixed-term post to cover maternity leave, commencing in December 2024.

Main Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Providing high-quality patient care and management of children and young people with a range of medical conditions
  • Leading daily morning handovers and conducting or supervising ward rounds
  • Communicating with parents and carers of children on the ward
  • Managing acute admissions to the paediatric ambulatory care unit
  • Participating in clinical audit and quality improvement projects
About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a friendly and cohesive department, providing high-quality care to patients and their families. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with a multidisciplinary team, including doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • Full GMC registration
  • On the GMC specialist register or within 6 months of CCT at the time of scheduled interview
  • MRCPCH or equivalent
  • SPIN or equivalent in diabetes
Desirable Qualifications and Experience

  • Higher degree in Paediatrics
  • Experience working in the NHS
  • Wider experience, research, and training in providing a subspecialty service
